It's a long time since I've had to do a full upgrade because I mostly keep on top of things and usual;y do a changed files update. But this time I find I've missed a point and am now two points behind so I have a couple of questions about the full upgrade, apologies if they seem really basic.

Firstly, I've renamed my admin folder, I know enough to make sure the admin folder has that same name when I upload the files but do I need to make any other changes elsewhere to reflect that different name.

Secondly, I have some of my own images in the images folder, will I have to reupload these to the images folder after upgrade or will they still be there?

if you rename admin folder of upgrading pack to the same of existing folder then
no need to change any setting.

run file verification tool to find which image files are changed
take backup of those changed images so that you can reupload them if required.

1.8.24 was a minor security update, you shouldn't feel overwhelmed by missing the last two release points.

Update to 1.8.23 and then to 1.8.24.
