hey i recently disabled the view profiles permission for registered users since i dont want them to view other profiles. The problem is they cant view their own too. When they go to their profile it just says: You are currently logged in with the username

With current code and permission settings, you can't achieve that goal without modifying core files or using a plugin. Therefore, I suggest OP to use a simple plugin to block registered users to view any other's profile. Hooking to
member_profile_start is something the plugin may begin with.
