How do we submit a sitemap to Google ? Do we need to use a plugin for that ? Thanks.

Yes, you need a plugin to generate it. Search for "Sitemap" in the Extend and you'll find ABP Sitemap and Yet Another Site Map

You can have sitemap from various plugins. Once you have the sitemap, you can submit it to Google Webmasters(

I think that submitting is not necessary, most crawlers looks for sitemap.xml. But you can do it to accelerate the process

You can add in your robots.txt the line: Sitemap : http://example.com/sitemap.xml

BTW, submitting a sitemap to google is really simple: https://www.google.com/ping?sitemap=https://your.website/sitemap.xml (replace the url)

What should be the update interval to set for the sitemap ? What will be not a so frequent value ?

Do you mean the update of the sitemap itself or the values to set in changefreq ?

In MyBB, I usually update the sitemap.xml once a day to include new threads of the day. And my sitemap only contains threads, not forums nor categories.
And for the changefreq, I usually use daily, but my forums are specialized so they have not too much participation
