I have searched for this in every way I can think of and haven't found an answer, so apologies if I missed it --

Is there a method for me as an admin to manually change who is listed as having referred a specific member? I am on 1.8.24.

EDIT: We've decided to disable the referral feature for reasons beyond the above, so I'm marking this as solved.

I do not know if it is possible through AdminCP, but if you have database access, you can just change the referrer field of that specific user.
