This is for SCEditor which is bundled with MyBB by default. The mod is using an addon of SCEditor only which is no way gonna work with CKE.

Assuming you're going with the default theme - or at least taken CKEditor out of the picture. If not - previous posts explain all and I'll not repeat.
Per @martec's post - edit the codebuttons template, replacing the content per @effone's post. Done via the ACP - not a file at all. Templates are located in the database.

So reverting the codebutton template and (optionally) removing dragdrop.js gets us where? Reason I started the above thread was base64 image data in our database. Still don't want that. Made hay with @effone's mod, but can live without it.
Probably do quite a bit of testing anyway, but interested in expected behavior as a baseline.

the 1.8.27 solution for firefox is kind of weird.
there are times that it works as it should, but there are times that simply the solution of 1.8.27 does not work.
this community already using 1.8.27 so you can test in Testing folder

Ps. I haven't done tests with chrome based browser.
No image with Chrome / Testing forum. So have a decision. Stay with what I have, or revert codebuttons. Test a bit more with my theme, then make the call. Be the only changed template I haven't reverted if I go with the status quo.
