Man, I don't see this anywhere, so I figured I'd post it because I needed to created the true SEO forum URL, and not just a generic URL like fourm-1, use this global variable in forum display to print out the forum URL if needed for a link,
{$mybb->settings['bburl']}/{$sorturl}&sortby=lastpost&order=asc
it ll be more helpful if you will explain it bit more , for dull people like me

My guess is it's a modification for the forumdisplay_threadlist template.

This is just a link that sorts new threads first in forumdisplay. $sort can sort all threads different ways. This is just a link structure to sorting threads different without using forum-.html for example
