I have a classified ad section and would like to find a method to limit the life of the ad (posting).

The post of course would still be there, but I would like to stop any additional responses to it after a given amount of time such as 90 to 120 days.

I have the latest 1.8 updates.

Thank you for your time and any ideas about this question.

You can probably have a look to MyBot which allows to automatize some actions
If it doesn't work, you'll probably have to create a task (and a small plugin if you don't want hard-coded lifetime)
