Ok, just installed the current release (1.8.29) on a Fedora 35 server running PHP v 8.0.12 and I am able to "log in", however, when the screen resets, I'm back to the top page as Guest... Says I logged in OK, but then I'm not...
Thoughts?

Checked or tried all of that.. The system is telling me that I've logged in, but then it doesn't log me in...

Okay, can you confirm what your URL is, and then view the page source and see what the cookie settings are, you should see something like this from around line 60:
var cookieDomain = "community.mybb.com";
var cookiePath = "/";
var cookiePrefix = "";
var cookieSecureFlag = "1";
It sounds like the cookie settings are incorrect but we'll need to know the URL and current cookie settings to confirm.
