Hi again,

we are wanting to add a few features to our forum and we do not know if those plugins work and if their development has been stopped. That is why we need your help, to let us know if you still use them or if there are more recent alternatives.

Any help from the plugin devs or forum admins who have these kinds of features and that can give some advice on these or other plugins who do basically the same will be greatly appreciated.

I'm the author of that plugin, and yes, it works on 1.8.29 and is currently being maintained - it was updated only a few days ago (you seem to have accidentally listed the original upload date rather than the date of last upload). It doesn't support compression as yet but there is a GitHub issue for that requested feature - Optimize image to reduce size - so it might be implemented at some point.

Also, you can't stipulate a maximum size for only height, but if you set a very large value for maximum width then this should serve your purposes OK.

An alternative is Omar's premium plugin (for USD $20)  OUGC Image Optimizer which does support compression via the TinyPNG and reSmush.it APIs.

I'm the author of this plugin and I can confirm that it works with 1.8.29
