How can I display a message or maybe a pop up for new users. It should only display once, when they sign in.
For example: "You can customize your profile on your User CP" or something like that

I put messages like this in the quick phrases of the language file.  Specially, the registration agreement.  Not to say they're read - and not exactly what you're looking for - lol.

Interested in other answers, as I've seen plugins related to this.  But nothing up to date I would use.
