How do I post an image or at least a preview of an image in a post?

The editor insert image only requires a working URL.  But some image sources - Facebook for example - have an expiration on such links.  Also, the size parameters are CSS.  Good for image fit - but modern cameras and phones often default to a very large image.  Physical file size not affected by CSS.  This can be problematic for page load time, and general forum performance.

Guess it depends on how much images are used on your site.  We use @Laird's Image Auto-Resizer, along with the core attachment system.  We also use a lightly modified ABP Imgur Uploader, by @CrazyCat, to give users a choice. 

Thought about eliminating the editor image button - but with many sites offering share links - not much of a restriction.  Then there's manual bbcode.

So thus far, we've relied on education for the most part, but it's slippery slope on an image heavy board.

That's a little odd, is your version and theme templates up to date?  Don't think inserting images via the [img] tag has changed much - although the editor has.

As a long shot, confirm in the User Control Panel Edit Options > Thread View Options > Display images in posts is enabled.
