There are no working plugins that make threads update live (+live notifications that connect with MyAlerts), and for some communities it's a must as they're oriented for very active discussions, with members that don't like to keep refreshing in order to see the new replies. I, and they, would love it if someone could come up with such a plugin.

Another optional feature that could be added is for it to show when someone is typing in a thread before replying.

I was writen a plugin for the last one request.

For many others it can be done by ajax but you will need a dedicated server for that purposes.
