I want to make this a simple and least confusing for people registering. One of the options is "Hide me from the Who's Online list" on the registration page. Is there a way to remove this. I have disabled all the Who's online feature for my forum so I'm not even using this feature. I'd prefer to not have it in the preferences so I don't have to explain it to people.

Also, the "Default Thread Subscription Mode" options are confusing. Registrants are not understanding the difference between the above checked boxes for "Receive emails" and thread subscriptions. Can I just remove this from the registration account preferences page or at least add some text explaining it for people who are new to forums?

You can manually remove them from member_register template in your themes template set or add in some clarification text in there.
