I know there was an option in old mybb where we can set guests can view only x amount of threads after that they need to register an account to do so. 

But now I cannot seem to find it? How to make it such that guest are only allowed to view 5-6 threads then registration is required.

This isn't a core feature and would require a plugin. Maybe one of these:

Thankyou very much. Yup limited guess access was the plugin I used back then.
