I think the 'gn' field is part of the Group Notice plugin.

This error is generated when I try to add a new user group.
We are running MyBB 1.8.24. 
The Group Notice plugin is 1.0.

Copy the attached fix into plugins directoty, activate & deactivate it once...it will fix this issue....the fix file deletes itself on deactivation.

You also could deinstall this old plugin and use BAM Announcements Manager instead ... is has also group based notices functionalities and more
