This post draws inspiration from the following thread: Disable custom user titles? This thread was specific to MyBB 1.4.
In MyBB 1.8, the following can be done.
To Disable Custom User Titles for the Registered group:
Admin CP :: Users & Groups :: Groups :: Registered :: Users and Permissions :: Can use custom user titles? (unselect)
