A preview version of MyBB 1.8.37 expected to address 12 Issues is now ready for public testing.

During this phase we welcome board administrators, developers and our Community to verify installation, upgrading, compatibility, and general stability using test and/or staging environments before an official upgrade is released and applied to live boards.

* Non-production use only: Pre-release versions, including upgrades to/from/between them, are generally not supported. Test packages may contain errors that may be difficult to recover from on active boards.

* Pre-release: The software can be installed or upgraded by placing/overwriting files from the package. The final release may include further modifications including those addressing security issues, and separate update packages for use with the previous version.

* Dynamic build: The provided code is attached to a repository tag that may be updated when additional public updates are pushed.

Hello, first of all, thank you.

I have a personal question. At the moment, even though there are some volunteers in the project, you are the only authorized person doing active development. In fact, you are one of the few people who develop on GitHub.

If you stop developing in the near future, it means that there is no one else to take care of you. What do you plan to do in such a situation? Or is there a possibility that you will leave the project in the near future?

Your efforts are priceless. Thanks to you, we can continue.
There's been less activity around forum software for a while, which also meant the same for its development. This originally resulted in MyBB scaling back plans from working on 2.0 from scratch to making specific changes with 1.9.

The nature of these changes meant unevenly split attention for some time, with 1.8 being in public focus, but reduced development (where some ideas and code cannot be immediately accepted), and the opposite for 1.9.

We hope that eventually returning everyone's attention to a single branch - with better code quality, theming, and shorter release cycle (+ general interest in self-hosted/decentralized communities recently) - gives the Project some fresh air, and brings more contributors, who usually appear through making custom tweaks and fixes to their own forums.
