I want to prevent attachments in one forum without restricting their use by members in other forums.
Attachment use or not seems to be restricted to user groups.
How can I change that for a single forum?
are you looking to apply this to specific users? or specific usergroups?
if usergroups then you can do that by going into ACP » Forums & Posts » Pick the forum you want to apply this to » Select "Permission" tab » Select "Set Custom Permissions" for the usergroup that you want to apply this rule to » Select "Posting/Rating" tab » Unselect option "Can post attachment"
if you want to apply it to specific users, then you will need a plugin, and we have people who offer plugin services

In the forum permissions you can set for each group whether attachments are allowed or not, this is forum-specific.
