Hi i want to integrate the forum around the general template of my site, nothing to complicated i just still want the top of my page and the left hand side to stay as it is. Is this possible?

You might want to check out the header and footer templates (Admin CP --> Templates --> Modify / Delete --> *expand your template set*). You can modify those templates so that the header (including your left nav bar) and footer match your site.
