I have to ask a really stupid question because I don't understand.

I understand that I can create a display name in addition to my username.
But what's that good for? What do I need it for? Maybe I'm just too old to figure it out.
I'd appreciate some clarification.

Username is treated like a unique identifier in MyBB, whereas display names (this plugin) can be shared by multiple users.

This specific plugin was requested for an RPG-role-playing like community.
