And now they're not working.. Why?

You have to deactivate the plugins and activate again to use them with your new theme because the templates are pure for the new theme or you can find the changed templates and modify to the new one also
I've done that. Still nothing.
Plugins which modify templates look for specific snippets of HTML to add their own code after it. Chances are the plugins could not find that specific snippet of HTML in your template as it is different from the MyBB default template. You should contact the plugin author to find out what templates to change manually.
