Hi

i have been using mybboard for a couple of years on and off. and loved it.. now i get to the point where i own my own web-server at home and when i install mybboard either i can see it and people outside can't see it properly or people outside can see it properly and i can't see it properly.. i then un-installed searched and found it have to implement something in init.php or something with if else.that will send internal ip's to a certain address and external ip's through a different. way.. just wondering if someone could clarify that for me.. and get back to me on what i need to do..

cheers

GreenBoi
It's hard to clarify when we don't know what your talking about ourselves. Can you provide a link to the post which said that? And a link to your forum? All the standard stuff...

i can't really explain it much better.. as that is all i know from my limited knowledge on this.. and i can't remember where i read it.. i was just searching the web a couple of months ago. and found some stuff on it.. so that's what i remembered and wrote down at the time.. the link is http://michael.homeip.net/forum/ here is a screen shot of how it shows up for me

thanks..
When I am running a forum from my own webserver, I set my Board URL to "." (just a full stop). The syndication link won't work correctly but the important stuff gets picked up correctly.
You should use the public address to access your forum, not the internal IP address. The Board URL setting should also be the public address.

You can't always do that. My router won't let me use my external IP to connect to a computer inside my network from within my network so I have to use the internal IP.
Greenboi are you able to access your own forum at http://michael.homeip.net/forum/? I guess you can also try using the Autoset Cookie Settings and Autoset Board URL plugins by CraKteR

MrDoom I don't know why it's not working for you. When you request your own forum with the public address, the request should be just as if somebody outside the network was accessing it.
This is for my development server, which is inside my home network. When i try and access it using the domain name (which points to my external IP address) it actually brings up the login page for my router so I have to use my servers internal IP address when at home.

Elsewhere it works fine.

You need to forward port 80 through to your server machine. http://portforward.com/routers.htm
