I know this may seem like a silly question, but just wanted to know (probably, I just lack confidence at times) however my question is during an upgrade, if I have all ready had flashchat installed, do I need to reinstall flashchat, or leave it as is as it is sharing the same database.

I am feeling a tad bit ashamed to ask it, but just thought that I may ask.

I really don't think it would overwrite any tables, but I'd backup anyways.

You really should back up the table that plug in uses. Then Deactivate the plug in. Next upgrade your board. Then activate the plug in then restor the table with phpMyAdmin.
