Don't worry I have read about the Merge System tests and am not about to ask how to convert (yet).
However I just wanted to know how far I can go with the customisation of my site before bringing the db over from phpbb.
I dont wanna waste time customising parts of the site that will then get overwritten by things brought over from the phpbb db.
things like permissions, ranks etc? Will these come accross from the existing site or ??

There are different "modules" you can choose to convert, such as usergroups, users, categories, forums, threads, polls, poll votes, posts, private messages, smilies, settings.
Pick and choose what you want to convert
If you are moving from a base phpbb then you will be very pleased with the conversion. Please list what custom mods you might have with phpbb that you want to convert.
Being honest, all I want to convert is the users and their posts, I dont want anything else from the site at all.
I have MKPortal and a load of other stuff, but I am not wanting to bring those over.
How soon do you think this converter may be ready as my current site is turning in to spam and porn central
Ok just finished reading the long post about the develoment of the converter and how it is not being release until the next ver of myBB is out.
However it did state that you may release certain modules for phpbb in the meantime.
I would sincerely love to get my hands on it and to convert my phpbb site to mybb as my current site is dying under the weight of spam and attacks from hackers.
Unfortunately I modded my phpbb site so heavily that an upgrade path the latest phpbb isnt viable.
I know you get millions of these requests, but if there is any way I can convert the user and posts to myBB I would greatly appreciate the help.
My myBB site is all ready to roll however it just needs it's users and posts

Is there any chance of a response regarding the phpbb to mybb?

Unfortunately right now the Merge System beta is suspended until the release of MyBB 1.4. After they've been released though, you will be able to convert directly from phpBB to MyBB 1.4!
Thanks labrocca, but will this work with the latest version of myBB ? as it says it is for 1.1.1 ?
