What is strange about that? You can check this, for example:
http://www.boutell.com/newfaq/creating/withoutwww.html

not that no kidding thats possible i meant like how there isn't a file extension... i guess I should've explained myslef better.

It's probably some type of SEO and .htaccess.

I, personally, don't know exactly how they did it but it's cool none the less.

I owe you an apology then because it's I who misunderstood you. I have come across discussions on this question but I never really tried to apply it on my server. Here is one:

Google search for some .htaccess and MOD_Rewrite stuff. That's how it's done.
