Where will I find the settings for the defaut font and style for the texts of posts?

In your Theme Manager;
ACP - Themes - Modify/Delete - MyBB Default [ Edit Theme Style ] - Go
You should edit the "Font Family - Font Style"

Tried that but it does not change the font. My forum though has a mod coded into the showthread.php file. Is it possible this could be causing the problem?

You probably need to change the ones in the Tables / Table Footer / etc. too =P
