There are many users who runs PHP 4 on their servers. For them this news is bitter.. I'm also running on PHP 4.4. I think this is not the time to make codes for php5. It need atleast one year more to completely ignore the PHP 4.
php 5 out for 3 years, if they wait another one year, is that will change anything?

As said before, it is not required that you update to a version of MyBB that does not support 4.x - you are quite welcome to continue using an older version of MyBB. Security bug fixes are released for older versions for quite some time so your board will be safe while running an old version. Smile
MyBB 1.2.x will continue to support PHP 4. MyBB 1.4.x (coming soon to a server near you) will also support PHP 4. So you still have plenty of time to nag your webhost to upgrade PHP.
It's also important to note that most hosts already offer PHP 5, but by default they give you 4.

Contact them and ask, if they do offer it, they will tell you how to enable it (usually by htaccess)
well! it's a good release but some member will not able to upgrade with new version! becuse! some of Free Hosts still use php 4! and the majority of MYBB is used on free hosts!

But still i like the new release because it have a lot of built in feature that now we need to get by installing different plug ins!

best of luck to all the team!
FAISAL!
Not so sure about 'majority of MyBB copies runs on free hosts'. Smile
well! yup i think so because until today i have seen mybb's most of them ar eon free hosts! may be i am WRONG TOO!
Toungue

FAISAL!~
I suggest you actually research your statistics before you actually post them
Well, this might be quite a bummer for me. The last time I asked my web host on upgrading from PHP4 to PHP5, they told me that kind of change requires them to create a new account and moving my entire forum and website onto the account with PHP5.
