Hi,
I'm a russian MyBB translator, and I've some problems with Win-1251 encode. Most of the russian users use win-1251 in their forums, so my translation is made in this encode.
But there are some problems with settings.xml file. See: if I don't choose win-1251 encoding in this file, I have such problem: http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/8021/45669678it5.jpg . (of course, if I choose win-1251 encoding during the installation).
But if a choose win-1251 encoding in settings.xml file, forum doesn't work absolutely: http://wsl.jino-net.ru/forums/index.php

What must I do?

Convert it to UTF-8. This is the main reason we implemented UTF-8 tools; so we can solve all of these problems

Tikitiki, it's not a decision of the problem. UTF-8 is NOT suitable for russian users...
So, I'll try to work with win-1251 and to fix this bug myself.

UTF-8 is the end-of-all solution for all internationalization character problems, so yes, it is suitable

Sorry, but I think, that I know better, what is better for me and for russian users... There are many problems with russian characters and UTF-8 encode.
I'll never do my translation in UTF-8...

Have you've ever tried UTF-8 with MyBB 1.2.10? It's called "Universal Transformation Format" for that very reason.

I know, what UTF-8 means, and I tried it much times. I can explain you more about why I've chosen win-1251, but I think, that it's no need.

Fine. I won't force you to use UTF-8. Just know that we won't be supporting any problems because of it.
