Maybe for when the new MyBB version is released, can we have the Mods page set up so's that if one clicks on the "Get Support" link it takes you to a post thread for the particular mod/plug in, rather than just to the forum?
I understand that this means creating a post thread for each mod/plug in, but it'd surely make it a lot easier for folks to use rather than going to the forum and looking through many pages to find any support/help with mods/plug ins, and surely it'd help keep that forum more tidy.
Great idea, I'd like to see this as well.
Would sure make it a lot easier.
I agree, this would be much better.

It would also solve all the Threads people make about a certain plugin.
Does this suggest that a thread be automatically created for every modification submitted?
No. I'd say it would be better if you could put in a URL of the support thread, on whatever forum it may be.
We've considered allowing authors to enter the URL of a support thread but it obviously hasn't yet been implemented. The mods site is however due some TLC over the christmas period...

I believe that this is what's done at an IPB site (third party mods/skins support site), and it does save a lot of extra effort for the mod plug in creators, although I'm not so sure about the skins/themes, not sure whether they have the same kind of link added.

That would be perfect. I normally add a support link to mybb central but to have it standard would simplify the matter.
Or, if it can be coded, have a script that automatically creates a new topic based on the information submitted w/ the mod. Obviously, there would be an override option if the thread already existed / the user wanted to point the URL to their own support forum.
