Today I am very proud to announce the release of the MyBB Merge System to the general public.

The MyBB Merge System is a huge step for us in terms of bringing communities together. Not only does the Merge System allow you to convert forums from supported software to MyBB, it will also allow you to merge multiple forums together into one.

This release of the MyBB Merge System will allow you to merge the following bulletin boards in to MyBB:
  • MyBB 1.2 (Being able to merge MyBB 1.2 forums into other MyBB 1.2 forums)
  • phpBB 2

Each new release candidate will add another forum software converter to the already available forum software converters. This will be done about every two to four weeks and so we can give enough time to test the converters.

If you have been patiently waiting for a converter that is not yet out we apologize for the long wait and we thank you for sticking with us! The converters will be out in this order: (This may be changed in regards to popularity/requests)
  1. phpBB 3
  2. SMF 1.1
  3. vBulletin 3.6
  4. IPB 2.2
  5. IPB 2.1
  6. PunBB 1.2
  7. IPB 1.3
  8. XMB 1.9
  9. vBulletin 2

Support & Troubleshooting

For general support inquires or questions, please post in the MyBB Merge System > General Support forum.

If you think you've found a bug with the MyBB Merge System, post in the MyBB Merge System -> Bug Reports forum.

In all support and bug requests try to be as detailed as possible. Include information such as:
  • The version of the Merge System you are attempting to use.
  • Which board you attempted to convert from and the version it was.
  • The version of MyBB you are currently running.
  • Any error messages you receive as well as screenshots
  • Any other information that you can provide that may be of assistance to us.

A huge thank you to the ~250 participants we've had participate in the beta of the Merge System, as well as all of the MyBB Team who have put their time and effort in to testing the release over the past few months.

I know people are going to raise this question so I am going to clarify this first:

What we mean by "merge" is an operation which combines the data from two forums into one. The merge system does not have the functionality to share tables between two forums.

I hope everybody can understand this distinction. Smile
