I'm a supporter and user of both, both for different applications. As I cannot choose a better forum for certain applications, I chose to use them both. However, I'm starting to wonder what's better.
Interesting.
I will say that phpBB3 has a nice looking interface. Also, it's AdminCP is full of things.
I dunno what the MyBB 1.4 AdminCP would be like (it's apparently redone) so am waiting to see that.
I like MyBB over phpBB because the front-end is nicer. AJAX is the way of the future, and phpBB is sorely lacking behind in that regard.

Out of interest, what applications do you find phpBB performs better?

To be honest, it depends on my mood. On my forums, http://plusleagues.heliohost.org/ - I chose phpBB, as it comes with a large variety of styles and MODs, more than MyBB. Also, phpBB's interface looks more appealing to me than myBB's. phpBB3's ACP also seems far more superior than MyBB's. Also, MyBB's reminds me of MyLeague's league pages - left and rightside..

Yeah, a larger community would have more customizations available.
What sort of modifications do you like?
I personally would disagree with the AdminCP, but it's your personal view Toungue
Yeah, the phpBB Admin CP has never been something I've liked yet the main (and very trivial) reason why I won't use phpBB is that they don't list the newest thread in a forum on the forum index page... that really annoys me.
I guess that no matter what any one says, someone will obviously have a different opinion on it. It's just how the world is. I've come to accept it that not everyone will agree with my opinion, whether I know it or not, it's just my opinion. Like for example,

^^ My opinion, as some one could disagree with it, and to be honest, it would be fine with me. But in my opinion, I can't really chose one to prefer, as I try to be loyal to both of the communities, as they both have excellent software, staff, and people.

Don't get me wrong, here Zinga, or anyone else, I'm not saying I don't like the AdminCP, I'm just saying the layout they use is used by everyone today.{mostly} I mean, http://greatleagues.com/ uses it after http://myleague.com/

However, I do have to say that I do like how myBB does it, since they have the style headers, bullets, etc.

Nah, don't worry. I think phpBB's AdminCP does look much more attractive than MyBB, but I personally found that when you delve into it, it's a little excessive, and I'm not particularly a fan of the tabbing design (means more clicks are required to get anywhere).
Of course, you're entitled to your opinion Toungue

Well, I honestly like the tabbing design. However, I prefer it to be AJAX-loading tabs. As in, you click a link, and it just switches the content and the tab, not reloads the whole page. But everyone has their own opinion, and I personally like how they do their tabs, however, as you said, it does make for some unnecessary clicking. But I guess it all comes down to personal opinion, and feel for things. Like I said, I just think the leftside-rightside design is so over-used. It's like a song that you love when you hear it a couple times, so you keep playing it, and then it gets to played out - you never want to hear it for a little while.
