They use getimagesize and reject any images larger than a specified size?

I haven't asked them but sounds like it maybe causes pages to be very slow to load for slower connections or it uses up too much space???

Could be any number of reasons.
The main one I see, is the fact that it just plain messes with the style.
Not too mention people still on 56k (yes, there are some) will have an extremely hard time browsing around forums that have images that are 800 x 600 pixels and above.
On a few forums I run, if we find these images, we modify the post with a link to the image instead.
