I am currently using the code from this thread:

to have stats showing on my main website front page and it works a treat, BUT am I missing something or is not a bit dodgy having your sql username and password sat in the source of your website so all can see it?

I know I have probably missed something very obvious here but can someone point me in the right direction please? LOL

Your database username and password are also stored unencrypted in inc/config.php in MyBB. This is a limitation of the PHP being source-viewable.

However, public users on your site will not be able to see your username and password because any .php file is parsed by PHP and only what is 'echo'ed out will show to the browser.
