I'm wondering if a plug-in for this has been/can be written.
In the AdminCP you should be able to set prefixes for each forum (so you can add different prefixes per forum or don't have prefixes at all -- in that case the prefix drop-down menu would disappear), and a drop-down menu would show up instead of the "Thread subject" text field. The thread prefixes would show up there and the poster selects a prefix in the list and writes the thread subject.
For example, if the administrator adds the prefix "Request" to the Requests forum, and the posted types "Hello world" in the thread subject text field, it would show up like this in the post:
Request Hello World
An administrator can also change the prefix to something like "Request:" so it would show up like this:
Request: Hello World
I think this would be cool and handy as a plug-in.
