I was too curious about this. I found this result in my search:
http://community.mybboard.net/showthread.php?tid=26045
but seemed to be a dead post

This is something that would make management A LOT easier.
DennisTT Wrote:The display of posts is based on the time that the post was made. Technically you can go into phpMyAdmin, into the mybb_posts table and edit the "dateline" which is a http://www.4webhelp.net/us/timestamp.php]UNIX Timestamp. But you should only attempt that if you are competent at using phpMyAdmin.

Changing ordering method will have a number of technical issues.
Definitely not competant with phpmyadmin, so I'll stay away from that, but it would be nice to move threads up/down in forums.
You don't have to be competent, you just have to edit it.

I would highly recommend knowing how to edit a database anyway - it could save you in the future as well.

As mentioned, there are many technical issues with sticking a second display order - for example - if you had a thread with 1000 posts, and you wanted to move post #100 to #2, you'd have to change the order # for all the posts from 2 to 100 (or 99).

All you have to do it go into phpMyAdmin, enter the posts table, go to the relevant PID and change the timestamp of the post.
