Is there any posibility to prevent user registration at all?

Yes there is mod that disables new registrations http://mods.mybboard.com/view.php?did=36

And in myBB Gold, this feature is already built in as far as I can tell.

There are quite a few new admin features regarding user registration options in MyBB Gold. The ability to disable registrations is indeed one of them.
