we changed hosting systems, moved the database and the filesystem
ran the upgrade script to get rid of the "auth code mismatch"
rebuilt everything multiple times
and whenever someone clicks on "new thread" it just gets appended to the first post

What first post is it appended to? All threads in the forum?
Also, what do you mean by "append"? Is it similar to editing the post, and adding the text after it?
bascially what was happening, was I'd create a thread, and instead of the thread being created it seemingly attached itself as a reply to a random thread.

we have the forums running again, but there's a new problem lol.
every time i go to the forums, even though i've enabled all the options to stay logged in, i'm never logged in.
when i click on ANY link, i am then logged in.

The reason is because your board URL is set to:
http://irshell.org/
For security reasons, this is considered different to having the "www." prefix, so your browser will not send your cookies across.
If you want to be able to use both URLs and appear logged in, change your cookie domain (in your AdminCP) to:
.irshell.org
Note that you may have to clear your cookies after you do this.
and your copy right is not shown the way it should all i see if the word copyright and not the other stuff.
