Here is a little question to do with the copyright of a theme. Ok, so I've just put a theme on a board I am starting up and the copyright link is in the footer, however the link of the theme is dead (and / or the sites domain has dropped and a advert placeholder page is up) ... does the link have to stay there or can you keep the authors name and site name but just remove the link?

I would remove the link however, wait a few weeks before doing so. My site's are currently down due to technical difficulty. So the links to my site in the mods I create redirect to the ad pages. You can ask the creator to make sure the author's site isn't down for a few days.

Like rcpalace said I would remove the link, keeping in mind that that author's name is still valid and to leave that up there...
