Not necessarily. The front end isn't going to see huge changes, so updating your theme for 1.4 would only take half an hour or so. I'd update it at no cost. Getting your theme now would also save you a few months wait.

There are enough front-end changes to worry active designers with multiple themes to update. The postbit being one for sure.

Of course, but it will be less of a chore than good familiarization experience for those of with fewer themes to worry about. The changes will be well worth the time it takes to update themes, I can't wait.
I have to agree I see nothing wrong with mybbthemes.8ez.com. Very straight forward. I even have a designer badge on there.

Try my lightblue theme. Otherwise ffw is also very good at themes.
