I'm stuck on installing. Is anyone available to get me kickstarted? Smile
You might need to provide more details, like where are you in the installation that you are stuck? Have you read the wiki on installing?
I've gotten as far as step 3 on the wiki installation instructions. I can't figure this part out. I'm using yahoo, and uploaded the specified files. I have no clue what CHMOD is, let alone, how to do it. I tried going to the web address as written below, but even that didn't work. I'm sure it's something simple that I'm overlooking....

"CHMOD the following files to 666 (ie, make sure that PHP can write to them).

./inc/settings.php
./inc/config.php
./uploads
./uploads/avatars
In your browser, visit the URL where you installed your forums, appending /install/ on to the end of it.

If you installed your forums to http://www.yoursite.com/forums/ then you would visit http://www.yoursite.com/forums/install/. "
I'm also using windows, I realize that may be part of my problem, maybe I don't need to do the CHMOD thing? I am investigating further on the yahoo side of the issue, it appears maybe I am trying to do this all in the wrong place. I've been trying to do this through the file manager, which I just realized is not the ftp. Could this be my main problem?
CHMOD is the file permissions. Your hosting company should have a set of numbers beside the folder name such as these: 644, 777, 600. Click on the numbers and change it to 666.
ok. I figured out that I was supposed to be in the ftp to do that. that is done, now i'm at the next part....
