I know they have mods that cover this already, but what I'm wondering if there is one that is more suited to be used on the actual forum index page? I want to show like the first couple of sentences of the last topic of each forum seperately and it's going to be at the top of the forum index page, like a seperate table for each forum's latest topic...

Which mod would be best for this? RSS/php/etc.? I want to make sure I don't mess up anything important on that page...

Usually i have seen in other forums below the Please welcome our newest member something like this

This whould be good in the index page

Yeah, but I don't just want the link to the topic, but a couple of sentences that let you preview what the topic is about... And I want to have one from each forum.
