Do you mean to tern off the hole systeam or just on your account?

either way... both of those options that snake asked if was what you wanted are possible.
to turn off private messages for a whole group:
in the admin cp go to Usergroup Management and choose the usergroup you want it to apply to, then scroll down until you see "Permissions: Private Messaging"
there you can turn it off and stuff.. ;P
and if you are talking about just 1 user then just go to your usercp > Edit Options and you will see an option called "Receive private messages from other users."
