I want to upgrade MyBB to a lower Version to use a theme. I open install/upgrade.php and select "Version 1.2.10 or 1.2.12". After the upgrade my board is still V1.2.12 !?

You can't downgrade like that; i would contact the author of that theme and ask him to update it for MyBB 1.2.12

That would be a downgrade, which is not possible and not recommended.

You're open to security holes if you're going to downgrade your forums.

try using the update tools in mybb to see if the skin can be updated
