Hi,

I run a board where I have all forums and sub-forums open to posting by guests. I've recently started getting a few posts by one particular person and I would like to ban their IP address. I understand that this may affect other users but I accept that responsibility.

I can't seem to be able to find how to ban guest with an IP address. Is this even possible? If not are there any steps I can take to control the poster?

TIA
If you know the IP it can be entered in the admincp under settings->banning. It's in a weird spot but it's there for IPs and even emails. Mybb doesn't support wildcards but you can enter xxx.xxx.xxx to go for a class c.

Keep in mind it matches against anything so let me give you an example.

ban this: 123.456

and you get these results:
123.456.789.000 <--banned
000.123.456.789 <--banned
789.000.123.456 <--banned

So be careful about placing too short of a ban ip. Imagine if you just put the number 6. Anyone with 6 in their entire IP string would be banned.
Thank you. I was looking in the Users and Groups section, that's why I couldn't find it.

I have the complete IP, so hopefully it won't affect any other users.

I'll have to be careful: all this banning power could go to my head.

Thanks again.
