Is it possible to hide a forum from the index page and link to it from somewhere else?

Here's a trick:
Create a hidden forum, then make your special forum a subforum of this hidden forum. Make sure the permissions of this special forum allow users to view it.

This effectively hides the forum, but still allows users to access it (from some link).
