Can you check please next:
1. You enabled plugin in AdminCP-->Board Settings (Change)-->Inside Posts ?
(is first option and must to be set to "yes").
2 The same with right access: (last option) set to "All guests and members" to see if works.
3. What CHMOD do you have for inc/settings.php ?
If you still have problems after check this options, please tell me what version of MySQL and php you have (and MyBB of course).

I am using Edited version for using with mybb 1.4
Hope the author updates it for mybb 1.4
Now this plugin is compatible with MyBB version 1.6*
