Is there any plugin or another way to have a default icon for posts & threads which no icon selected for them?

And no; not at this moment.

Edit:
Upload in your plugins folder and activate;
Only 1 setting; the IconID (iid) under 'Posting' settingsgroup.
By default the icon is [Image: my.gif]
