No, we've had internal beta testing, for over half a year now. We recently released beta builds to our testers, but we have not tested MyBB 1.4 on the scale of a production forum. We're in the final stretch

So many of the tweaks before the release will be code tweaks and nothing "visual"?
Have been debating on whether to post this or not for a few days as i know it may upset some which i dont wanna do. But this is for feedback on 1.4 so here goes. As said it is not easy for me to say BUT WHY is MYBB moving towards vB with it's looks? That is the biggest/Only issue i have with 1.4. Everything else is great but that.
Outside of the header and index page the rest will look alot like vB especially the forum display page along with the thread option to have that look inside of threads.
Wouldnt it be better to keep your OWN look as you have currently vs a move towards looking like/copying vB looks? Yeah i'll admit as most know i dont care for that horrible look at all. yes the current look isnt the greatest in the world but it looks CLEANER/easier on the eyes and thus more professional looking and it is its OWN look that none of the others have.
Thus my hope is that 1.6 ( or whatever it will be ) will have the option as well to have the current look vs the 1.4 in forum display and or done away with. Anyways mybb deserves its own looks and not like some copy of that crappy vB software.

Is it? Many features/items are similar, but I have seen many forum software which has post layout, etc the same.

This is not about vB or any of that. This is about simplicity and better designs and better features. If you don't like it, then that is why I spent many many hours and blood and sweat into developing the new and very easy to use Theme and Template pages in the ACP.

Hopefully i didnt imply otherwise. Sorry if i did. No beef with the features just that look. Which yes i will probably redo and i do thank you for making it easier to do that as well. Glad you point that out as well. People NEED to know how much easier it will be to do themes etc with 1.4.
one thing i learned as a forum owner is, its nothing personal with members and opinions
in fact its the opposite, its that listening that drives one to find out what the people want and need, it is the hardest part of determining what works and i try to usually adhere to my needs of my members with discreation of course and a lot of listening
I find that i can always run short term expeirments before turning the changes into long term or permenant changes to my forum.
most of my forum ideas been all mine, my most successful ones were design and layout, and topics, but as for the hard work these guys done , thats the way i felt until i got it in place and a plug in destroyed it all, because it wasnt compatible and corrupted everything i did for 6 months, then there was a chance to get what was available and someone destroyed the rest of my copies and trashed my forum for not knowing how to re-install a forum
my site has never been the same since, and i been struggleing since!
with all the hard work and blood and sweat, i can relate...
i guess sometimes growth can be painful, but quite a learning experience!
