can any one recommend a good shoutbox that i could use on mybb version 1.2.13 that would work well on this

Have you tried looking in the Mods pages here at MyBB, or maybe doing a search of the forums?
I like SpiceFuse, I tried Goughy AJAX Shoutbox and found it a bit heavy, also tried musicalmidgets shoutbox, had to jump through a few hoops on the templates to get it nicely placed, Spicefuse works out of the box and very easy to place in the templates, if you want to see it working:

u cant change text or the color of the letters tho and it dont have smiles
