fsockopen is probably disabled
Which free host is this btw? They can't be seriously shutting down all methods to send email..even external SMTP. That's stupid.
It is qupis.com ... when I talked to them about it they suggested their paid host affiliates or whatever, so it could just be a reason to get us to pay for hosting? Who knows.
I'm not quite sure what fsockopen is, is that something I should ask qupis about?
I am having the same problem. With 987mb.com hosting, fsockopen is disabled for "safety reasons". Is that necessary for SMTP support?
Yes it is needed. I don't think there is a way around that.
Doh...forgot about cURL. I almost never use it but yeah...it can be used. That's IF cURL is installed but it's probably not. Try a phpinfo page. You should see it listed if it's installed. You can view the phpinfo page from admincp.
